Picking the right bed can make you feel like Goldilocks; but, unfortunately, it’s not always easy to find the one that’s just right. The Leesa mattress strives to provide the perfect middle ground for those who want a peaceful night’s sleep.
The thing is, you spend a lot of time in bed. So, it’s important to find a mattress that makes you feel good. And, it’s not all about how well you sleep, but how you feel when you wake up. Laying on the wrong mattress night after night, and year after year, can result in a stiff neck and aching back. Not to mention you won’t be as productive through the day! So is the Leesa mattress a good pick for you?
What Is a Leesa Mattress?
Leesa is a bed-in-a-box brand that has been shipping mattresses to doorsteps since 2014. It’s generally only sold by an online retailer but, as of recently, is now available in some store locations.
The Mattress Construction
The bedding is constructed of three layers that work together to provide comfort and support.
The top layer consists of two inches of Avena foam that provides a swift response to pressure and gives the bedding a little bounce. You can also change sleeping positions without disturbing other parts of the mattress. It also has cooling properties that help regulate temperature, so you sleep cooler.
The second layer contains two inches of memory foam that contours to the shape of your body and provides pressure relief. This type of material generally retains heat, so putting it in the middle keeps you from overheating. And since it’s on the second layer, it also aids in relieving pain from sensitive areas without making you feel sunken in.
The base is six inches of high-density poly foam that supports the comfort layers above it. This layer acts as the foundation of the mattress by giving it solid stability.
To shield all those layers, the cover of the Leesa mattress contains a soft polyester blend with a breathable airflow. It’s thicker than most covers, which means it’s made with quality fabric.
The Firmness of the Leesa Mattress
This bed has a medium feel that provides comfort and durability. There’s only one Leesa model on the market, so there aren’t variations of firmness. The entire mattress comes with a single firmness level, and it’s best suited to an average sleeper. If you enjoy a really soft mattress or an extra firm bed, you won’t enjoy the Leesa mattress. However, it offers a supreme level of comfort and support, which caters to you when resting in different sleeping positions.
The Leesa mattress, like most other memory foam beds, absorbs motion and causes minimal disruption from your partner’s tossing and turning. The mattress performs above average with the isolation of movement, but it’s not the best mattress for people over 230 pounds. And, in regards to its durability, the six-inch core support foam layer adds lots of strength, sturdiness, and structure, which gives relaxing sleep for individuals of all sizes. Plus, the lifespan of this mattress is a bit better than some other beds. While reading through reviews, we discovered that people like Avena foam just as much as regular foam bedding, and like it a lot more than innerspring and latex mattresses.
What to Expect from Your Mattress Shipment
As we stated before, the Leesa mattress comes in a box, and it’s available in size twin to California king. It ships free through UPS and usually arrives in three to five business days. The package varies from 45 to 95 pounds depending on the size, but it’s still lighter than most memory foam mattresses. There are no handles on the side of the box that the company uses to ship it, so it’s a bit difficult to maneuver. It’s shipped in a compressed box, and you’ll receive a tracking number to help you follow the package. Once it arrives, it’s easy to unbox and requires a little time to expand out to its complete fullness

The 100-Day Sleep Trial

Leesa stands by their products and prides itself on its confidence that every customer should experience the comfort of their mattress for at least 100 nights. During that time, there is a risk-free 100 percent full refund issued to you if you don’t like the bed. They allow over three months of use because they want every sleeper to have enough time to experience their products. And, if you don’t need that much time to decide whether the mattress is right for you, after a 30-day trial you can contact customer service and they will arrange to pick up the bed — and refund your money.
How We Reviewed
We researched to learn as much as we could about the Leesa mattress. Our goal was to discover whether it lived up to the hype, and find out what customers had to say about it. We also found other bedding brands to see how it stood up against the competition. We based our decision by choosing the mattress with the best features and customers ratings.
The customers on Amazon rated Leesa mattress 4 out of 5 stars; however, there were unhappy customers. One reviewer stated that the mattress became lumpy after six months.
Benefits and Drawbacks
The most attractive feature about the Leesa mattress is that it consists of Avena foam. It’s an alternative to latex foam, and it’s designed to provide the same comfort and support that a latex foam mattress offers, but with higher quality.
Avena foam delivers constant airflow as you sleep. Plus, it’s hypoallergenic, doesn’t crack, and has better durability than latex. It also has reduced compression, so there are no sunken spots on the mattress.
The is an excellent bed overall. However, it could present different issues for different people. If you’re a lightweight person, you might find that the mattress is too hard because there’s not enough body weight to press down into the cushion. So, if you’re 140 pounds or less, it might not be right for you. Also, if you’re overweight, that could present a problem as well. If you’re heavier, you might experience sinkage, so it’s a good idea to not sleep in the same position each night if you do decide to buy the bed.
- Designed to provide the same comfort and support

Are You Ready for a Good Night’s Rest?
We’ll be honest; it was hard not to drift off to sleep while putting this list together. All the beds we found seemed so comfy and could undoubtedly provide good rest. And according to most of the customer reviews we read, the mattresses are spectacular. However, after reviewing various brands, we decided to stick with the Leesa mattress. The blend of comfort and firmness it provides is incredible, and it’s the best of both worlds.
But that doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t be satisfied with one of the other beds listed. Everything boils down to preference, and maybe one of the other mattresses is more appealing to you. If that’s the case, we encourage you to pick the bedding that suits you. After all, it is where you go to recharge, and where you spend a significant amount of time. So, you better make sure it’s a place you want to be.
